Shoot and Cook Day
Date: Saturday 9th February, 2019
Start Time: 10:00
Experience a full and exciting day with experts in their field of ‘GAME’
Esther is a well respected cook specialising in game. Second in the 2015 Game Chef of The Year competition, she went on to write the highly regarded From Field & Moor cookbook. With witty stories from the past and present, the challenges of juggling motherhood, a farm, gundogs, and a business, Esther is a joy to be around.
Along with the instructors from Malton Cookery School you will get one-to-one and group instruction, learning skills preparing and cooking a variety of game. Balancing textures and flavours will take you on a culinary adventure.
The day begins at the picturesque Thimbleby Shooting Ground in North Yorkshire where you will be met by Esther ‘The Country Cook’ and Gareth Dockerty from BASC.
Enjoy a two hour shooting lesson with approximately 50 clays and vast variety of stands. Split into small groups appropriate to experience, you will get valuable instruction from a BASC approved coach. This is an excellent opportunity for novices to get to grips with a new sport, or to brush up on your skills for the more experienced shots.
After ‘elevenses’ from Game Birds and Greedy Pigs we move on to Yorkshire’s Food Capital and the world-renowned Malton Cookery School.
Once the lessons have finished and you have freshened up, a pre-dinner gin tasting experience at the Rare Bird Distillery, practically next door to the cookery school, will revive you to enjoy the evening.
Then tottering back to the cookery school ending with the evening enjoying the three-course meal which you created as a group.
Please book early as places are limited.
